Frontpack

JavaScript library · design and development · 2020

FRONTPACK is a modular JavaScript library for creating user experiences on websites and web apps. Its APIs for UI components, animations, interactions, Ajax requests, and utilities are the building blocks of the library. These can be combined into modules that reduce the creation of components and their respective functions to a single line of code. In turn, these modules can be reused, as the styling can be adapted to each project’s requirements.

What sets FRONTACK apart is the focus on reusability and user experience, rather than solely on interfaces. It solves the challenges frontend developers typically face, by combining various common tasks into a single library. This eliminates the necessity for numerous dependencies or plugins, such as those for advanced animations or for the packaging of functions into reusable components.

To create a positive experience for developers, the syntax is deliberately designed to be memorable and consistent. The accompanying website features an interactive user manual that demonstrates the library’s features and capabilities through interactive demos. Explanations are illustrated by practical examples, relevant to real-world applications.

FRONTPACK has been used in the development of various websites and web apps. It is the crucial component both individuals and enterprises rely on, in products that get used daily. As a result it is also the driving force powering the frontend of the site you are currently reading, and the apps SYSTEM and BACKPACK.

Code Scroll

In an effort to visualize the project, the entire source code was printed onto a single piece of paper. The custom-made scroll measures in at an incredible twelve meters in length. This blend of the digital with the analog is not only the physical manifestation of the concept, but also a standalone art piece. It raises questions about the interplay of realms and contrast between the concrete and the abstract.
